27 April 2010

The College of Law feted a testimonial for the new members of the Bar that successfully passed the 2009 Bar examinations. Released on 26 March 2010, the College of Law garnered a 75% passing rate for the 2009 batch, registering a remarkable performance way ahead of the 24.58% national passing rate. The College, under Dean Ernesto P. Maceda Jr., ranked 6th among Metro Manila Law schools and 8th nationwide in the results of the 2009 Bar Examinations.

A testimonial was also given to its outstanding faculty members for clinching meaningful posts that brought more honors and prestige to the College. Promoted to the position of Associate Justice were Hon. Myra V. Garcia-Fernandez (Court of Appeals) and Hon. Cielito N. Mindaro-Grulla (Court of Tax Appeals), while Hon. Venicio S. Flores was appointed as member of the Legal Education Board.

Highlighting the event was the unveiling of the official PLM College of Law seal, its blazon, the PLM College of Law motto and the symbolism of its emblems. The launch is in celebration of its milestone foundation anniversary of 20 years.

The main highlight of the program is the first-ever signing of the PLM-CL Roll of Attorneys as a "celebrated record of the men and women who distinguished themselves in gallantly rising to the challenge of legal education at the PLM and mastering the Philippine Bar exams."

Dean Ernesto P. Maceda Jr. explained that the "signatures on (those) pages serve as a testament to their achievement and to their continuing commitment to a practice of law geared towards public service and social justice as expressed in our college motto: Lex ad bonum publicum."
