In his letter to acting president Rafaelito M. Garayblas, Dean Gil Evasco of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning reported the recent achievement of the College in the June 2010 Architects' Licensure Examination given on 11 and 13 June 2010. A total of 70 Architecture schools nationwide have participated in said board examination where PLM ranked as the 4th best performing school in the category of 20-49 examinees.
With only 1.2% shy away from the topnotcher, a PLM alumnus was 4th placer at 85.40%. Jared Aaron R. Cruz brought honors to PLM for locking heads with UP-Diliman counterparts where most of his fellow topnotchers hail from. "This brought PLM as one of only five (5) schools that placed in the top ten," Evasco revealed, stating that those were the "University of the Philippines (Diliman, QC), University of Santos Tomas (Manila), University of the Philippines-Mindanao (Davao City) and University of San Carlos (Cebu City)." PLM outshines the 3 other schools where the topnotchers hail from as it came second only to UP-Diliman.
According to official information received from the Professional Regulation Commission, Cruz leads 19 other new PLM architects. PLM's passing performance is 56% (20 passers out of 36 takers), which is higher than the national passing percentage of 49% (993 passers out of 2,004 examinees).
"This honor certainly belongs to the entire University, home to the underprivileged but academically-brilliant Manila scholars," Evasco concludes.
