PLM Law debate team through to ANC Square Off Semifinals

13 February 2015

It is not a fearsome Friday the 13th after all for PLM as this year's batch of the Law Debate Team has replicated its earlier victory in this night's episode of ANC Square Off Law Debates Season 10.

Arguing for the negative side on the motion, "Resolved, the Bangsamoro Basic Law should be passed into law," the team won over Adamson University in the quarter final match to make it to the semifinals round.

With this win, PLM has made it through to the semifinals of the nationwide competition for the third straight season. This means at least a third place finish for our valiant debaters.

Two-time best speaker in Season 8 Brian Michael Balio was adjudged as the evening's best speaker. He is joined by fellow College of Law juniors Pamela Luz Ortiz and Relson Moral. Ortiz clinched the same award in the elimination round.

It was a special win for the Debate Team as they did it in front of a studio audience composed of students from the various undergraduate colleges of PLM who gamely showed up to support their fellow PLM students from the College of Law. Many were impressed and inspired by the team's performance that they are now considering a law degree at PLM after they graduate from their courses.

PLM president Ma.Leonora Vasquez-de Jesus is closely following the Team's performance. Throwing her full support behind PLM's gifted scholars, de Jesus was among the first to send her congratulations to Law dean Ernesto P. Maceda, Jr. and associate dean Marisol DL Anenias for the college's increasing feats.
